Music game for adults, events and work

A music game for events, work and grown-up parties

Hitify Play turns a room full of adults into a room full of opinions about when a song came out. It runs in the browser, needs no cards and no app, and scales from a table of friends to a company event.

Free to try. Whoever starts the game logs in with an email code, no password. Players who join a party room need no account and no app.

The idea fits every occasion in a sentence: a 30 second preview plays, nobody sees the year, and the group places the song in time. That is why it works for people who barely know each other and for people who have known each other for decades. Nobody needs to be a music expert, because the argument is the game.

These pages show how it works in specific situations, from an office party to a reminiscence afternoon. Each one names the way to play that suits it, from one shared phone to a party room with a big screen and a phone for everybody.

How a game works

  1. 1

    Pick a deck

Choose a popular public deck, or turn your own playlist into a deck.

  2. 2

    Choose how to play

Pass one phone around the table, or open a party room where everyone plays on their own phone.

  3. 3

    Listen and guess

A 30 second preview plays and nobody sees the year. Place the song on a timeline or lock in a year.

  4. 4

    Reveal and score

Title, artist and year come out, the timeline grows or the points go up, and the next song starts.

The timeline in one look

A timeline is a row of songs in release order. You hear a new song, never its year, and decide where it fits between the songs already on the row. Get it right and the row grows.

Why it works at a party

No cards needed

Everything happens on screen, so there is nothing to print, shuffle or lose under the sofa.

Works in the browser

No app to install, not even for a party room. Open the page and play.

Three ways to play

One phone for a small group, or a party room with a big screen for a bigger crowd.

Frequently asked questions

How many people can play at once?

Pass the phone takes 2 to 8 players on one phone. A party room takes 2 to 8 players in Timeline or any number in Year Rush (it has no player limit), each on their own phone, with a big screen showing the board.

Do guests need to install anything?

No. Everything runs in the browser. Whoever starts the game logs in with an email code, and players who join a party room scan a QR code or type a 4 letter code and pick a name.

What does it cost?

Popular public decks are free to play. If you turn your own playlist into a deck, the first 100 cards of that deck are free.

Do I need speakers?

The songs play on the device that hosts the game, as 30 second previews. For a bigger room, connect that device to a TV or a speaker.

Ready for the first song?

Pick a deck, choose how you want to play and have the first round running within a minute.
