Music game for your event

A music game for club evenings and the clubhouse

After the match or the rehearsal, the clubhouse fills up and the conversation drifts. A music game on the clubhouse TV gives members of all ages something to share.

Free to try. Whoever starts the game logs in with an email code, no password. Players who join a party room need no account and no app.

A club has members aged 12 and 70 in the same room, and few activities work for both. A song game does, because the youngest knows the recent hits and the oldest knows the classics. Teams can be formed by age group, by squad or by family, and the mix is what makes the answers interesting.

It also suits the rhythm of a club night. A game of 10 rounds takes about fifteen minutes, so it can open an evening, fill the gap before the prize-giving, or run during a fundraiser. The host sets it up on the clubhouse TV or a laptop, and members join with a code on their phones.

Best way to play it Party room: Year Rush. Party room: Year Rush fits the clubhouse: all members answer at the same time, and the leaderboard sets one team against another.

How a game works

  1. 1

    Pick a deck

Choose a popular public deck, or turn your own playlist into a deck.

  2. 2

    Choose how to play

Pass one phone around the table, or open a party room where everyone plays on their own phone.

  3. 3

    Listen and guess

A 30 second preview plays and nobody sees the year. Place the song on a timeline or lock in a year.

  4. 4

    Reveal and score

Title, artist and year come out, the timeline grows or the points go up, and the next song starts.

The timeline in one look

A timeline is a row of songs in release order. You hear a new song, never its year, and decide where it fits between the songs already on the row. Get it right and the row grows.

How to run it

Use the clubhouse TV

Open hitify.app/host in a browser on the screen, connect the speakers and pick a deck.

Form teams by squad

Let each squad or committee share one phone. Year Rush has no player limit, so everyone can also join on their own phone.

Tie it to the evening

Use the podium as the prize moment or as the draw for a raffle.

Tips for a better game

Pick decades for the whole age range

A deck of hits across several decades gives both juniors and seniors a chance.

Use 30 seconds for mixed ages

A longer timer gives everyone time to find the phone and think.

Make it a fixed slot

A monthly music round after training becomes a tradition, and a reason for members to stay.

Why it works at a party

No cards needed

Everything happens on screen, so there is nothing to print, shuffle or lose under the sofa.

Works in the browser

No app to install, not even for a party room. Open the page and play.

Three ways to play

One phone for a small group, or a party room with a big screen for a bigger crowd.

Can kids join in?

Players join with a code and a display name, so there is no sign-up. Decide as a club which songs and decks suit the youngest players.

The game itself is free to play with public decks. How you raise money, for example an entry fee or a raffle, is up to you.

What does it cost to play?

Popular public decks are free to play. If you turn your own playlist into a deck, the first 100 cards of that deck are free.

Do players need an account or an app?

No app is needed. Whoever starts the game logs in with an email code, no password. Players who join a party room scan a QR code or type the 4 letter room code, then pick a name.

Ready for the first song?

Pick a deck, choose how you want to play and have the first round running within a minute.
