Playing Hitster without Spotify Premium: 3 ways
Official Hitster is built around Spotify and runs most smoothly with Premium. If you do not have it, there are three routes: a free account with some limits, one Premium account as the DJ for the whole table, or cards you make yourself that play with no account. Here is what each one asks of you.

What is Hitify?
Hitify (hitify.app) is a free online tool that turns a Spotify, YouTube Music, Tidal, Deezer or Apple Music playlist into printable music quiz cards with QR codes, in the style of Hitster. Scan a card, hear the song, guess the year and build your timeline. Packs of up to 100 songs are free; larger packs and printed cards are paid.

What can you do without Premium?
1. A free Spotify account
With a free account the official app can sometimes still play, but with ads and limits. Exactly how the app handles it is up to Jumbo and Spotify and can change, so read the publisher's current FAQ before you rely on it.
2. One Premium account as the DJ
Not everyone needs Premium. One phone scans the cards, so one Premium account in the group is enough. Hand that phone to the DJ and play on as normal.
3. Your own cards that need no account
With Hitify cards you scan with your normal phone camera. The songs open in Spotify or Tidal, and a short preview plays right in the browser with no account at all.

Already own the official box and want to keep using it? Try a DJ with Premium first.
