Music game for the classroom

Class trip and school camp: the evening game

On the bus, in the hostel or around the campfire lounge, a music game fills the gaps without anything to carry. One laptop, one speaker and the group is playing.

Free to try. The teacher who starts the game logs in with an email code, no password. Pupils need no account: they join with a code or QR in their browser.

You need a screen or a laptop for the host, a speaker for the sound and an internet connection. Pupils join with their own phones or tablets, so the group does not have to share anything.

The game works well when the day was long and nobody has energy for something complicated. Rounds are short, anyone can join late and the class can stop whenever the schedule says so.

Teacher quick start

  1. 1

Open a room on the big screen

Go to the host page on your smartboard, projector or teacher laptop, pick a deck and a game, and a room code and QR code appear.

  2. 2

    Pupils join in their browser

Each pupil, or each pair, opens the page on a laptop, Chromebook, tablet or phone and types the code or scans the QR. They choose a nickname. Nothing to install.

  3. 3

    Play from the board

The song plays through the classroom speakers, pupils answer on their own screens, and the board shows the reveal and the scores.

The timeline in one look

A timeline is a row of songs in release order. Pupils hear a new song, never its year, and decide where it fits. Every round is a small lesson in how music changed over the decades.

Tips for the classroom

Check the connection

Test the WiFi or a hotspot before you leave, because everyone needs a connection.

Bring a speaker

A small portable speaker is enough for a room of pupils.

Agree on screen rules

Decide before the trip whether pupils may use their own phones for the game.

Why it works in a classroom

No accounts for pupils

Pupils only type a code and pick a nickname. No email address, no sign-up, no school login.

Nothing to install

It runs in the browser, so it works on the school laptops and Chromebooks you already have.

A whole class at once

The open game modes have no player limit, so the whole class plays together instead of waiting for a turn.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work on a bus?

It needs an internet connection for everyone. On a bus with a good connection it works; check it first.

Can the whole year group play together?

In the open modes there is no player limit, so a whole year group can play in one room if the connection holds.

What does it cost?

Popular public decks are free to play. If you turn your own playlist into a deck, the first hundred cards of that deck are free. Pupils never pay or sign up.

Do pupils need an account?

No. Pupils join with a room code or QR code and pick a nickname. Only the teacher who starts the game logs in, with an email code and no password.

Ready for the first song?

Open a room on the board, let the class join and start the first round within a few minutes.
