Music game for the classroom

School party and open day: a game the whole hall can join

At a school party, a parents evening or an open day you want an activity that anyone can join in seconds. Show the code on the big screen and the hall plays together.

Free to try. The teacher who starts the game logs in with an email code, no password. Pupils need no account: they join with a code or QR in their browser.

Because the open modes have no player limit, the game scales from one class to a whole hall. Pupils, parents and teachers can sit side by side with a browser device each, and nobody needs to be taught the rules.

For a smaller occasion, such as a birthday in class, the game works just as well on the smartboard with a short deck of songs the birthday child picked.

Teacher quick start

  1. 1

Open a room on the big screen

Go to the host page on your smartboard, projector or teacher laptop, pick a deck and a game, and a room code and QR code appear.

  2. 2

    Pupils join in their browser

Each pupil, or each pair, opens the page on a laptop, Chromebook, tablet or phone and types the code or scans the QR. They choose a nickname. Nothing to install.

  3. 3

    Play from the board

The song plays through the classroom speakers, pupils answer on their own screens, and the board shows the reveal and the scores.

The timeline in one look

A timeline is a row of songs in release order. Pupils hear a new song, never its year, and decide where it fits. Every round is a small lesson in how music changed over the decades.

Tips for the classroom

Put the code everywhere

Show the code and QR on the big screen and on a poster, so latecomers can join.

Mix the generations

Choose a deck that covers several decades so parents and pupils each know some songs.

Check the sound system

In a hall the music needs real speakers. Test with the volume you will need.

Why it works in a classroom

No accounts for pupils

Pupils only type a code and pick a nickname. No email address, no sign-up, no school login.

Nothing to install

It runs in the browser, so it works on the school laptops and Chromebooks you already have.

A whole class at once

The open game modes have no player limit, so the whole class plays together instead of waiting for a turn.

Frequently asked questions

How many people can join a big event?

In the open modes there is no player limit in the game. For a large hall the practical limit is the WiFi, so test it before the day.

Can parents join without installing anything?

Yes. They scan the QR code and play in their browser.

What does it cost?

Popular public decks are free to play. If you turn your own playlist into a deck, the first hundred cards of that deck are free. Pupils never pay or sign up.

Do pupils need an account?

No. Pupils join with a room code or QR code and pick a nickname. Only the teacher who starts the game logs in, with an email code and no password.

Ready for the first song?

Open a room on the board, let the class join and start the first round within a few minutes.
