A music game for watch parties and fan clubs
Fans love to prove they know their stuff. A music round between episodes, matches or releases gives the group something to share and a leaderboard to chase.
Free to try. Whoever starts the game logs in with an email code, no password. Players who join a party room need no account and no app.
A watch party has quiet moments: the lobby before it starts, the break at half time, the wait for the next episode. A short round of Year Rush fits in those gaps, and members join from their phones without leaving the chat or the video where the group is gathered.
For a fan club, the deck is the point. You can turn a playlist of the artist, the soundtrack or the era into your own deck, so the questions are about the thing your community cares about. The first 100 cards of your own deck are free, which is plenty for a round or two.
How to set it up here
- 1
Make or pick the deck
Turn the playlist your fans love into a deck, or pick a popular public deck.
- 2
Open the room in the gap
Start hitify.app/host before the break, sign in with an email code and keep the lobby open.
- 3
Share the link where the group is
Post hitify.app/j/ with the 4 letter code in the group chat, the watch party room or the voice channel.
- 4
Play one short round
Play a few songs, show the leaderboard and keep a running score across sessions in your own notes.
The timeline in one look
A timeline is a row of songs in release order. You hear a new song, never its year, and decide where it fits between the songs already on the row. Get it right and the row grows.
What you need
A shared screen or stream
Wherever the group already watches together.
A phone per fan
The player page is a normal web page.
A deck for the community
Your own playlist or a public deck.
Tips for a better game
Time it for breaks
Start the game when the main event pauses, not during it.
Keep your own season table
Hitify does not store scores after the room closes, so write down winners if you want a running championship.
Reward the winner outside the game
A role, an emoji or a shout-out costs nothing and gives the leaderboard weight.
What streamers and communities should know
Viewers need nothing but a browser
No account, no download and no sign-up for players. They open a link or scan a QR code, type a name and play from a phone or a laptop.
The host screen is a normal web page
You show it with window capture, display capture or a screen share. There is no plugin, overlay or chat bot, and none is needed.
The app sets no player limit
The whole chat can join one room. Year Rush suits big crowds best, because everyone answers at the same time.
Frequently asked questions
Does the game keep a score across sessions?
No. A room closes after the game and nothing about players or scores is stored, so keep a table yourself if you want one.
Can fans pick the songs?
You choose the deck. If you build one from a playlist your fans suggest, the questions are theirs in spirit.
Can I play the songs on my stream? What about music rights?
Hitify plays 30 second previews from music services in the browser tab of the host, so whatever your computer sound sends to your stream goes out with it. Hitify gives you no licence to broadcast music and cannot know what your platform allows. Twitch, YouTube, Kick, Discord, Zoom and others each have their own music rules and may mute, flag or limit streams and recordings. Check the rules of your platform before you go live. This is not legal advice.
Do viewers need an account or an app?
No. Viewers open the join link or scan the QR code in a browser on a phone or laptop, type a name and play. Nothing to install. Only the person who hosts signs in, with an email code and no password.
Ready to run a round for your chat?
Open the host screen, pick a deck and show the room code. You can have the first song playing within a few minutes.
