Timeline for everyone at once: the complete guide to the shared timeline
One shared timeline for the whole room. A song plays, everybody places it on their own phone at the same moment, and the year is revealed for all. No turns, no stealing, no player limit.
Free to try. Whoever starts the game logs in with an email code, no password. Players who join a party room need no account and no app.
Classic Timeline gives every player a row of their own and takes turns. In this mode there is a single timeline on the big screen, and every player puts the same new song where they think it belongs, before the clock runs out.
That makes it quick and fair: nobody waits, nobody watches someone else play, and a whole classroom or a big party can take part. The cards that were placed correctly stay on the shared timeline, so it grows every round.
How a round plays out
Every round has the same shape, and the year stays hidden until the reveal.
Listen on the big screen
The song plays through the host screen while a short countdown runs, so the music can load.
Place it on your phone
The shared timeline shows on every phone with a slot between and around the cards. Tap a slot and confirm. Your first placement counts and cannot be changed.
Reveal together
The screen shows the year, where the card joins the timeline and how many players picked each slot.
Scores and the next song
Everyone who picked a fitting slot scores. The card joins the shared timeline and the next song starts.
How points are scored
A slot that fits the year scores 1000, and two songs from the same year fit on both sides. A wrong slot, or no placement in time, scores nothing and ends your streak.
On top of that comes a speed bonus of up to 200 for placing early, and a streak bonus of 50 for every correct round in a row after the first, up to 250. The top of the leaderboard shows between rounds and the game ends with a podium.
Settings and who can join
The host chooses the number of rounds and a time limit of 20, 30, 45 or 60 seconds to place each song. Auto moves on by itself after every round; switch it off to press Next yourself, and the host can pause the game at any time.
There is no player limit. Players scan the QR code on the big screen, or open the join page on a phone, tablet or laptop and type the 4 letter PIN, then pick a name. No account is needed.

The timeline in one look
A timeline is a row of songs in release order. You hear a new song, never its year, and decide where it fits between the songs already on the row. Get it right and the row grows.
Tips for a better game
Use the neighbours as clues
The songs already on the timeline are your reference. Decide which two cards the new song sits between.
Pick a longer timer for a mixed crowd
45 or 60 seconds gives people who do not know the music time to reason it out.
Great for classrooms and big parties
Nobody sits out waiting for a turn, so a large group stays busy for the whole game.
Why it works at a party
No cards needed
Everything happens on screen, so there is nothing to print, shuffle or lose under the sofa.
Works in the browser
No app to install, not even for a party room. Open the page and play.
Three ways to play
One phone for a small group, or a party room with a big screen for a bigger crowd.
Prefer real cards?
Make your own card game: paste a playlist, print the PDF at home or order the printed cards.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference with classic Timeline?
Classic Timeline is one player at a time, each with a row of their own and steal tokens. Here the whole room shares one timeline and plays at the same moment, with no stealing.
Can I change my placement?
No. The first placement you send counts, so think before you tap.
How many players can join?
There is no player limit. Classic Timeline is the one that takes 2 to 8 players.
What does it cost to play?
Popular public decks are free to play. If you turn your own playlist into a deck, the first 100 cards of that deck are free.
Do players need an account or an app?
No app is needed. Whoever starts the game logs in with an email code, no password. Players who join a party room scan a QR code or type the 4 letter room code, then pick a name.
Ready for the first song?
Pick a deck, choose how you want to play and have the first round running within a minute.
