70s music quiz: play the seventies online
Disco balls, glam and stadium rock: the seventies are full of songs everyone knows and nobody can date. Perfect for a timeline.
Free to try. Log in with an email code, no password and no app to install.
The seventies split in two. The early years belong to singer-songwriters and heavy rock, the late years to disco and the first synthesisers. A song from 1971 and one from 1978 can feel like different centuries, which makes the year gap the interesting part of every turn.
Because so many seventies tracks are still on the radio, players often know the song but not the year. That is the ideal state for this game: confident, wrong, and laughing about it.
How it works
- 1
Log in with a code
Enter your email address and type the code we send you. No password, no app.
- 2
Pick a deck
Choose a popular deck, one of your own, or scan the QR code of a deck you have.
- 3
Add the players
Add everyone who plays and choose how many cards are needed to win. One phone is enough.
- 4
Listen and place
Hear a 30 second preview and place the song on your timeline. Right answers grow your timeline, the first to fill it wins.
The timeline in one look
Every player builds a timeline of songs in release order. You never see the year of the new song: you listen, then decide where it fits between the songs you already placed.
Tips for this game
Spot the disco line
Four on the floor drums and strings usually mean 1975 or later. Use it to split the decade in half.
Beware of covers
A song you know from a later cover might be a decade older in its original form. Trust the sound of the preview.
Play to five cards
A short target keeps a decade of hits moving and gives every player a few songs to brag about.
What you get
One phone, whole group
The phone goes from hand to hand. Nobody needs their own device or an account.
Real music
Songs play as 30 second previews, enough to recognise a chorus and argue about the year.
Free decks to start
Popular public decks are free to play. Want your own songs? Turn any playlist into a deck, the first 100 cards are free.
Prefer real cards?
The same game also exists on printed cards with a QR code on every card. See how that works for this subject.
Frequently asked questions
Can I play only 1970s songs?
Yes. Make a deck from a seventies playlist and every round stays inside the decade, so the placing is about small differences.
Does it work for a seventies party?
Very well. Put the phone on the table, pass it around and let the music do the decorating.
Do I need to install an app?
No. The game runs in your phone browser. You only log in with a code sent to your email address.
Can we play together on different phones?
Not yet. The game is made for one phone that the group passes around, the way you would pass a stack of cards.
