Why Hitify

Where Hitify works differently

Your own playlist, on the card

Import a playlist from Spotify, YouTube Music or Tidal and every card carries that song: title, artist and year. Marimic deliberately keeps its cards blank so one deck fits every category. A different trade-off, not a worse one.

Start free, no account

The first 100 cards come out of the generator as a free PDF with no sign-up. Print, cut, play the same evening.

Release years you can trust

Every release year is checked against MusicBrainz by ISRC, so the timeline your guests argue over is the right one.

Print at home or order cards

Print the PDF yourself, or order printed cards in the same size as the boxed Hitster game, so both decks shuffle together.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is Marimic?

Marimic, "The Musical Time Machine", is a Swedish boxed music game from Forflutna. It ships with 100 QR cards and a library of over 4,000 songs across 10 categories plus artist categories, running from the 1950s to today. Players build one shared timeline by guessing release years, and there is a round for guessing which country an artist comes from. It plays with Spotify, YouTube Music or Apple Music (iOS only, in selected countries) and its app is optional.

What is the biggest difference between Hitify and Marimic?

What is printed on the card. Marimic cards carry no song text: the QR code points at whichever category or playlist you picked, so one deck lasts and new songs arrive digitally with no expansion to buy. Hitify prints your own playlist onto the cards instead, with the title, artist and verified year on each one.

Can I play my own playlist with Marimic?

Yes. Marimic has a custom category where you supply your own songs, and Forflutna has been moving that from Spotify playlist links to song lists, adding Apple Music and YouTube Music support. The cards stay neutral, so your titles and years are not printed on them.

Do I need an app or a paid subscription?

Hitify cards scan with the ordinary camera app on any phone, nothing to install. Marimic is the same: its own app is optional and you need a phone or tablet with a camera and an internet connection. Marimic recommends Spotify Premium, YouTube Music Premium or Apple Music for the best experience but does not require it.

Which one should I choose?

If you want a finished game in a box with a large curated library, delivered ready to play and topped up with new songs over time, Marimic is built for exactly that. If the songs matter more than the box, an inside-joke playlist, a wedding, a fiftieth birthday, then Hitify prints those songs and your first 100 cards cost nothing.
